Kortfilm på Uppsala Sacred Music Festival

Jag fick detta trevliga meddelande från kortfilmfestivalen :

På lördag den 2 november kl 17:00 gästar kortfilmfestivalen Uppsala International Sacred Music Festival med en visning av åtta kortfilmer. Visningen äger rum på Uppsala Konsert & Kongress och har fri entré.

Jag kan verkligen rekommendera det, kortfilm är underhållande konst. Jag såg publikens favoriter och raffinerat animerat i år. Ganska tunga teman denna gång men många riktigt bra!

Tyvärr missar jag den själv då jag är i Sundsvall men återkommer med ett inlägg om det! 🙂

How to memorize lyrics…

Do you find it hard to memorize lyrics?

Especially as a solo artist with no weekly rehearsing?

I would really love to share some of my experiences as I have written a lot of songs and have performed  as a solo act finding it sometimes hard with all the memorizing. Sadly I can not give you an easy escape as the first thing I will say is:

* Practice a lot!
You really need to get to a point when you don’t need to think about the lyrics at all. And it’s possible if you practice your songs a lot, specially in the beginning. Take the chance when you have a few minutes waiting for something at home.

*Take any chance to repeat the lyrics
You can also go through the lyrics in your mind a lot of times. When I have a new song I can “sing it” in my mind over and over again while taking a walk or going somewhere. If you have it on record you can play the song/songs over and over again. You wonder why can remember other songs more easy than your own? Probably you heard them so many times over and over again. They stuck.

*Singing in the shower never gets old
Here you have the chance to sing the song and practice both the singing and the lyrics!

*In time you learn faster
Oh, it’s totally true for me, it’s way more easy now to learn a song both playing the guitar and singing the lyrics. In that way I can rehearse a new song just 1-2 weeks before a gig. And the songs I struggled hard to learn in the beginning? The lyrics are still so well memorized that even if I in my mind black out I still keep singing and that’s a big comfort!

I hope that these experience can help those who sometimes like me have struggled with lyrics.

Till en början är det viktigt att öva mycket. Andras låtar kommer man ibland lättare ihåg texterna men det är just för att du har hört dem om och om igen. Har du en inspelning lyssna på den om och om, ta chansen att gå igenom texten när du tex. promenerar. Sjunga i duschen är en klassiker, här kan du öva på sången separat och även texten. Jag har upptäckt att jag blivit bättre och bättre på att lära mig texter, det gör det möjligt att kunna öva in nya låtar bara 1-2 veckor före spelningen. Och de låtar som jag i början fick kämpa med att lära mig kan jag sjunga vidare på trots att jag inombords har en blackout. Det ger otrolig trygghet.

A really good initiative with the goal to have zero waste. Through rewear, reuse, recycle and energy.

The gig at #fleamarketdeluxe

My last performance was at Flea Market Deluxe and I also was involved in arranging this event. Flea Market Deluxe is an environmental festival with second hand, recycle design, designers and also art and music inspired by environment and recycling! The purpose of arranging Flea Market Deluxe is to inspire students and the public to shop second hand and to recycle as a sustainable alternative for consumption.

So thrilling to be part of such a wonderful event. I performed solo with my Sadness Theory act and also with my duo Edenroad. My friends and family were there for support and to listen to some new songs that I had rehearsed both with ST and Edenroad. Going live with my friend Frida is very rewarding and inspiring. We perform songs written by either her or me.

My plan was to gather some other musicians as well to perform for the shoppers! And I am very happy to have gathered such fine artists to perform. One of them was Josefin Danielsson, a very talanted young artist with smart lyrics and inspiration from the sixties:

Also a band with fantastic energy, Fredrik Hardenborg and the Freediving  Bluesband, performed some new songs written about the environment and that is so inspiring:

A fantastic duo performing these beautiful songs about love with a country vibe and such a nice feeling (I am a huge fan Magnus and Rickard!), Magnus Öberg and Rickard Hultberg:

Can you see how amazingly synced they are? Totally fantastic match made in music heaven.

And my Flea Market Deluxe collegue doing her debute at FMD? Stephanie Thurow. So brave to sit there in front of this audience and all the people around and just lay down a piece of your soul.

Over all it was really nice even if I had a lot to do so I didn’t have the time to check out the flea market …

Number 35 – remake

My friend gave me this bag. She made it herself with fabric and material from thrift stores.

I love it. It’s also a mini pillow since it’s stuffed. How smart? I love the things she does, she is so talented!

Her name is  Frida and I also play music with her.

Ett tips till er Uppsalabor!

Idag måndag börjar årets Kortfilmfestival! Så här säger arrangörerna i ett nyhetsbrev:

“Missa inte ett besök på vårt nya café på Grand eller på festivalpuben Galleri D12 på Drottninggatan 12. Under festivalen visar vi film på Fyrisbiografen, Grand, Regina och Slottsbiografen. Alla biljetter säljs på Grand. “

Outfit med garderobsfynd!

Garderobsfynd= Ett plagg man hittar i sin garderob som man kanske hade glömt bort eller inte använt på ett tag pga säsongen!

Jag har haft denna tröja länge och den har alltid poppat upp som trend. Fick minst två komplimanger för denna “nya” tröja.

// When you find something already in your closet but it feels new and fresh? In swedish we have a word for it: garderobsfynd! I’ve had this sweater for many years and still it can be trendy for time to time!

Exhibit A – oil

I’m truly fascinated over how fast companies adjust to trends and promote new products. I wrote about how to profit from new trends and my example was oil. Then I said:

“So, sure if you start cleaning your face (and yes, it does work!) with olive oil                          somebody will have to put it in a nice bottle and four double the price so                          you can pay more for the same thing.”

Here’s exhibit A. Body oil that contains :
*rapeseed oil
*elderberry oil
*olive oil

Rapeseedoil is a very common Swedish oil that now have started to gain popularity and olive oil well very common Mediterranean oil. As I wrote before you can pay 79 SEK for a liter of ecological virgin oil from Italy that you can buy in the grocery store (I guarantee you that the rapeseed oil is even cheaper). The mix of these common oils into the product above will cost you 349 SEK per 100 ml, that gives you 3490 SEK per liter.

It’s bizarre, isn’t it?

Jag kan avslöja att rapsolja är finfint till huden och *lyssna noga här!* man kan smörja direkt från matbutikens rapsolja lika väl som att smörja in sig med den ovan. Rapsolja är inte så fet och blir inte kladdigt.
