I think this look is lovely. You can combine it with a statement necklace, an envelope bag and wedges. You can wear the kimono as it is or with a belt. The prices for the HM conscious are very good I think. You know you can also get a conscious discount?

Lyocell or also called Tencel is a material that is environmental friendly. It’s perfect for the hot days of summer and vacation as it has a comfy feel and dries very fast.

Nytt men hållbart – H&M conscious

Jag passade på att handla två nyheter från conscious, kollektionen för vanliga människor att tillägga. Priserna är väldigt plånboksvänliga. Men för mig som handlar 99% secondhand är några hundralappar chockartat! Tänk om jag hade en rabattkupong, tänkte jag. “Jo men det har jag!” Och plockade fram denna godbit :

Kommentaren från personalen var att det är ju bra att lämna in kläder för att det är det som gör att dessa kollektioner blir möjliga!

Det är ut sant! Det är alltså möjligt att lämna in en påse med kläder till hm, tex kläder som är trasiga och för utnötta för att skänka eller sälja vidare.

På conscious lapparna står det vilket material som gör plagget conscious. Här är det tencel/lyocell som gör det. Det är alltså ett nytt material som inte belastar miljön. Dessutom är det ett väldigt behagligt material.

Hållbart mode just nu!

Våriga nyheter i butik som använder sig av hållbara material. Jag valde jeans med Singoallablusen och en randig väska från Lindex till detta kollage. Till vår och sommar 2014 går trenden åt bohemiskt, gärna med en blandning av chic. Det marina återkommer alltid (och det bohemiska) så på det sättet är det bra att välja hållbara trender. Och det som passar just dig.

Butikernas hållbara kollektioner är små men desto mer vi konsumenter väljer dessa alternativ desto större efterfrågan blir det!

Hållbara material – Sustainable resources

When surfing for information about sustainable materials I came across H&M guide on conscious materials, which I found very informative. They list different type of materials and their benefit. I mention this guide because I myself have not had any idea what so ever about textiles and how the different type of fibers are manufactured. I have found information from surfing on the Internet.

I also contacted H&M and asked “how do I know when these materials are used in your garments” and the answer is that they are always labeled with the H&M conscious green tag (photo from they mail answer from H&M):

Why do I refer to H&M:s guide? -Because I believe it gives a good overview on sustainable materials. Do I have any connection to H&M? – No, none what so ever. I refer to them now and then probably because of their initiatives such as conscious. I use Google and information from organisations and if I find something interesting I post it on my blog. Simple as that.

And I don’t have any connection to second hand organisations, environmental organisations, fashion industry or textile industry or nothing else that I write about. I am educated in social science and one of my biggest hobbies is music. Through music I have expressed my thoughts and fears on environmental issues and through this blog I try to inform myself and other lost consumers!

Och varför dyker H&M upp på bloggen igen? För att jag tyckte att deras lista över material var överskådlig. Har jag någon anknytning till H&M? Nej, absolut ingen, men de dyker upp då och då antagligen pga deras initiativ inom området. Jag söker fram information och lägger upp det som jag finner intressant. Jag är samhällsvetare och har musik som min största hobby. Genom musiken har jag uttryckt mina tankar och farhågor om konsumtionssamhället.

Har jag någon annan koppling till det jag skriver? Nej, jag är inte engagerad i någon second hand butik eller miljöorganisation. Jag skriver för att jag söker information som kan guida mig och andra som känner sig förvirrade som konsumenter.

Does #Angora recall policy mean not still selling stock?

A question raised on twitter by @JonnWills after the post about the H&M newsflash I wrote about the other day. The news on H&M site contain the following information:

On November 27, we stopped all production of angora products. We have since then made additional inspections of the farms from which our suppliers source their angora wool. Since angora farms are located further upstream the supply chain, we can currently not guarantee the compliance with our Product Policy and specific requirements for angora husbandry. We have therefore decided to cease production of angora products.

So the banning is about the production of new angora products, but what about the products, garments and accessories that already are produced? Will H&M (and the other companies that have banned angora) still sell them without knowing how the angora was collected?

On the other hand is it not a waste of material and resources to not sell any angora products that were produced before the banning of angora?

H&M bans angora – Angora förbjuds

I read a news article from H&M in which they inform that they ban angora. In december 2013 they announced:

We have been in close dialogue with PETA for several years and as a responsible company we have decided to permanently cease the production of angora products.

Thank you for that!

Angora comes from rabbits, check this link (so fluffy!). The angora rabbits get their fur ripped off, google it and be aware that there can be very graffic images (that’s why I don’t provide you with a link).
