This recipe is for a cereal drink that is given to children in Sweden when they are small.
It’s originated from the period before modernization of the Swedish society when many where farmers.
This drink is perfect for early mornings when you are not hungry yet and the seasoning gives it a very nice taste!
Cereal Drink
1 cup of oatmilk
1 cup water
1,5 tablespoons of polenta (corn flour)
A pinch of salt
Cardemom seeds
Carnation
Cinnamon
Vanilla
Some butter
*milkfree **glutenfree
Boil the water and oatmilk with the seeds and seasoning. Whip the mix with the polenta and let it boil for some minutes. Add just a little bit of butter for the taste!
I was excited to find this recipe but it has me very confused. Why is it considered dairy free if it calls for butter and carnation. If it’s carnation instant breakfast, that contains milk. If it is not carnation instant breakfast but something else called carnation, I’d like to know what that is, if it contains milk, and if not, how to find it.
Hi Heidi, apparently the spice is called clove. In Swedish carnation is the same for both flower and spice. Use milk free butter or coconut oil.
Tack så mycket!
